The Center feels committed to the aims of the great UN-World-Conferences
(WCW Nairobi ’85, ICPD Kairo ’94, Social Summit Copenhagen ’95, WCW Bejing
’95 and their following processes). It researches for scientific insights that
contribute to the de-facto implementation of equal rights of gender and
prepares them in such a way that they can be put in practice immediately.

  • Study on development policy 1986. “Cultural structures and
    characteristics of the Luo, Kisii and Kuria and the consequences on
    living contexts and development perspectives of women - reflected
    and analysed from the perspective of these very women”
  • Since 1986 Germanwide public relations work on FGM
  • Development of concepts for projects of development cooperation in
    dialogue with the beneficiaries and monitoring of the practical
    implementation.
  • Development of the further-education Psycho-social further Teacher’s
    Training Prgramme on basis of the value-centered approach to
    overcome FGM. The further education participants are trained to be
    multipliers, who enable men and women of their ethnic community to
    awareness- and action-change in respect ot the esteem of girls and
    women, the female body, the clitoris and the sustainable overcoming
    of FGM.
  • Keynote-speech on „1. International Conference on FGM“ 2004, Nairobi
  • Networking
    national:
    Member of the German network to overcome Female Genital Mutilation
    (INTEGRA) and member of the netowrk for deelopment policies Hessen
    (EPN), and others.
    international :
    UNFPA, UNICEF, UNIFEM; WEDO, Population Institute, and others
  • Consultative Status with the UNITED NATIONS.
